Kenya selected to host the next Network of African Data Protection Authorities (NADPA) General Assembly
Kenya was recently selected as the host country for the next Network of African Data Protection Authorities (NADPA) General Assembly, which is scheduled to take place in 2024. This decision was made during the 6th Annual General Meeting of NADPA held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso on May 11th, 2023. NADPA is a platform that facilitates cooperation and exchanges among African privacy and data protection authorities. In addition to being chosen as the host, Kenya was also elected to the position of 1st Vice Chair on the NADPA board for a three-year term.
NADPA was established in Ouagadougou in September 2016, during a side event to the African Forum on Personal Data Protection. The previous Annual General Meeting of Data Protection Authorities took place in Morocco in May 2022.Kenya’s selection as the host country for the NADPA General Assembly and its role as the 1st Vice Chair reflect the country’s commitment to data protection, regional cooperation, and the advancement of the digital economy.
